LION OTT on Firestick: Step-by-Step Setup
The Amazon Firestick is the best-selling streaming stick on the planet, and pairing it with LION OTT gives you a smooth IPTV experience for under €50 in hardware. This guide walks through the entire setup from a fresh Firestick to streaming on the LION IPTV server — usually under 5 minutes.
What You Need Before Starting
- An Amazon Firestick (any model — Lite, 4K, 4K Max all work)
- A working internet connection — ideally 25 Mbps or more for HD/4K
- An active LION OTT subscription (M3U URL or Xtream Codes)
- About 5 minutes of patience
Step 1: Enable Apps From Unknown Sources
The Firestick blocks app installs outside the Amazon Appstore by default. To install TiviMate (the recommended LION OTT player), you need to allow Downloader to install apps. From the Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps. Find Downloader in the list and toggle it on.
Step 2: Install the Downloader App
From the Firestick home, hit the search icon (top-left) and type Downloader. Pick the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews and install it. This app lets you grab APKs by URL.
Step 3: Sideload TiviMate
Open Downloader, focus the URL field, and enter the TiviMate APK link the LION OTT team sends you in WhatsApp (we use a fresh, official build). Hit Go. Downloader fetches the APK; when it finishes, click Install. The Firestick will warn you about installing unknown apps — click Install again to confirm. After installation, click Done, then Delete to free up space (Downloader keeps the APK by default).
Step 4: Open TiviMate and Add Your Playlist
Find TiviMate in Your Apps & Channels, open it, and tap Add Playlist. You have two options here — both work, but Xtream Codes gives a richer experience.
Option A: M3U Playlist
Choose "M3U Playlist" and paste your LION OTT M3U URL exactly as the LION OTT team sent it. Tap Next.
Option B: Xtream Codes (Recommended)
Choose "Xtream Codes" and enter the server URL, username, and password the LION OTT team provided. This separates Live / Movies / Series automatically.
Step 5: Wait for EPG and Start Watching
TiviMate fetches the channel list from the LION IPTV server immediately, then begins downloading the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) in the background. EPG can take 1-3 minutes to fully populate the first time. Once it does, you have a full TV-guide experience — see what is on now, what is on later, browse 7 days of past programmes, and tap any channel to start streaming.
Tips for the Best LION OTT Experience on Firestick
Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi
2.4 GHz is fine for SD, but for stable HD/4K on the LION IPTV server, 5 GHz is much more reliable.
Reboot Firestick Weekly
Long uptime causes Fire OS to slow down. A weekly reboot keeps TiviMate snappy.
Pin TiviMate to the Home Row
Long-press the TiviMate icon in Your Apps & Channels and choose "Move to Front" so it is one click from the home screen.
Set Default Player to Internal
TiviMate's internal player handles LION OTT streams better than ExoPlayer in most cases. Settings → Playback.
Troubleshooting
Streams buffer when I first open a channel
TiviMate says "playlist failed to load"
App keeps closing on a 4K channel
